Mälaren’s Water Conservation Association is a non-profit association with about 60 member organisations around Lake Mälaren in the middle of Sweden.
Mälaren’s Water Conservation Association, MVVF (abbreviation of the Swedish name) is a non-profit association with about 60 member organisations. A partnership between authorities, municipalities, companies, researchers and water conservation associations – for the benefit of our common lake Mälaren in the middle of Sweden.

Active since 1998 with the main task of measuring the water quality of Lake Mälaren, but the history of monitoring Mälaren goes back much further. Extensive investigations began in Mälaren as early as 1964!
The area from where water accumulates in Lake Mälaren is 22,650 square kilometers, which corresponds to about 5 % of the area of Sweden, and surrounds the lake like a rectangle. The area extends mainly westward in relation to the lake.
