About Mälaren’s Water Conservation Association

Mälaren’s Water Conservation Association, MVVF (abbreviation of the Swedish name) is a non-profit association with about 60 member organisations. A organized cooperation between authorities, municipalities, companies, researchers and water conservation associations – for the benefit of our common lake Mälaren in the middle of Sweden.

Our long-term goal is clean water and healthy ecosystems in Lake Mälaren and the entire area from which water is accumulates into the lake – Mälarens drainage basin or catchment area of flowing surface water. To achieve our goal we…

  • Are a meeting place for collaboration and mutual exchange and learning
  • Continue to conduct and develop environmental monitoring in Lake Mälaren
  • Support members in in their efforts of achieving the classification Good status of all waters in their municipality or area of ​​interest
  • Be a common voice for the association’s members towards relevant authorities
  • Together handle upcoming environmental challenges for Lake Mälaren
